AmCham Conference on Employability and Development
March 2019AIMS International Albania & Kosovo, distinguished member and contributor of AmCham’s Labor and Ethics Commitee, supported and promoted the organization of a Business Forum on employment and professional development.
Representatives from businesses, schools and government joined the roundtable on solutions to enhance employability and develop necessary skills for young professionals (but not only) to succeed in the job market.
The event’s main purpose was to bring together interested parties to address the market challenge of a lack of a professional workforce as well as discussing how all sides can respond to find long-term solutions.
Business representatives shared their current experiences with recruitment processes and skill-related performance. They emphasised the need to predict potential at the earliest possible stages, in order to facilitate recruitment and onboarding. By successfully predicting talent, it is much easier also to provide career guidance to young students through school’s advisors and career offices.
Also, businesses stressed the importance of targeted skills development, in order to provide young professionals with the right skills package to be high-performers in today’s market.
The discussion also focused on how different economy sectors are reflecting their need for a skilled labor force, especially the tourism, agriculture, and outsourcing industries, which are considered strategic sectors by the Albanian Government.
