General Manager

On behalf of our client, a company operating in the mining industry, we are seeking a General Manager for our clients’ processing plant.

Role:

As a General Manager, you will be accountable for the smooth running of the daily operations, and you will ensure the compliance to and implementation of all safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Overall development, design, implementation and execution of processing operations;
• Maintaining profitability and ensuring the right stream of all commercial activity;
• Developing regulations, policies, procedures and programs applicable to the plant function, and acting as a liaison with other agencies and organizations assisting or regulating the plant activity;
• Monitoring and analyzing key performance indicators and recommending appropriate corrective actions;
• Improving overall plant performance, promoting cost reductions and achieving high levels of operating efficiency;
• Implementing strict measures in operating procedures to optimize resource utilization;
• Maintaining a safe and positive work environment;
• Authorizing planned maintenance schedules of machineries and equipment and applying relevant troubleshooting tools;
• Assessing training needs of various employees in coordination with HR and other departments;

Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Metallurgical /Mining Engineering; MBA is highly desirable;
• Minimum 10 years of experience in production, with min. 5 years in management position;
• Strong interpersonal and coaching skills; ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization;
• Proven budgetary skills, cost control and effective reporting skills, and business development skills;
• Strong problem solving and creative skills; ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions on accurate and timely analyses;
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation;
• Demonstrated commitment to safe working practices;
• English fluency and computer proficiency;
