Resort General Manager

March 2020

Albania is one of the last secrets of Europe. A warm and sunny mediterranean climate, over 300km of coast line with sand and pebble beaches on the Adriatic and Ionian Sea and a very mountainous backcountry, make Albania an exciting touristic destination.

Tourism is currently one of the most important economic drivers, accounting for over 26% of the country’s GDP. (and currently growing). Investment in hotels and resorts are surging, tourists are booming and the market needs seasoned executives who have walked the path before and can support this quick growth.

On behalf of our client, an important player in the hospitality industry in Albania, we are seeking an experienced international Resort General Manager willing to relocate in the country to work in a challenging and rewarding environment.

REPORTS TO: Owners

Role:

The General Manager will be responsible for all aspects of operations at the resort, to day-to-day staff management and guests. He / She should be an ambassador for the brand and the resort. Provide leadership and strategic planning to all departments in support of service culture, maximized operations and guest satisfaction. Work very closely with the resort owners and other stakeholders.

Responsible for managing the management team (HOD’s) and overall targets to deliver an excellent guest experience. A General Manager would also be required to manage between profitability and guest satisfaction measures.

Responsibilities:

The duties comprise typical Resort Management tasks, such as:

• Leading and coordinating HoD’s
• Overseeing operations
• Ensuring service quality
• Handling complaints and service recovery procedures
• Planning and organising
• Managing yield and profitability
• Complying to procedures, policies and regulations
• Leading capital projects, customer service and refurbishment
• Helping procurement / contracting vendors for essential equipment or services
• Monitoring performance and taking necessary corrective actions
• Being accountable for overall lodging, maintenance, food&beverage, attractions & service
• Ensuring executive team career progression and development
• Handling / acquiring key clients along with the sales team whenever required
• Reporting periodically to Owners

Requirements:

PREREQUISITES:

The ideal candidate is a seasoned and highly intelligent hotel professional with outstanding management skills and extensive hands-on experience. Available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights. Excellent command of English is obligatory. Knowledge of other languages is considered an advantage.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A university degree in hotel management or a related field and a clear track record in opening, managing or re-positioning a hotel. Excellent computer system skills.

EXPERIENCE:

At least 10 to 15 years experience in the hospitality industry, with significant luxury and international experience, ideally including experience in remote locations. And 5 to 10 years of experience as a General Manager or Asst. General Manager.
